I had such a wonderful time in Nashville this past weekend doing some wedding planning and celebrating my mom’s birthday (Christmas Eve) and Christmas. It seems as though I brought the LA weather with me because Christmas day was sunny, clear and a warm 70 degrees! That’s unheard of in Nashville in December! We had the back doors of the house open while we sat around the tree opening presents and enjoying some Christmas morning prosecco. I literally couldn’t have asked for a lovelier Christmas – and Santa was good to me to boot!

Two of my favorite gifts were a gray suede jacket and a pair of beaded fringe drop earrings. I really don’t have much in the jacket department other than a basic black leather jacket and brown leather jacket. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE them both and I wear them to death, but sometimes a girl wants something a little different. This light gray shade was just too pretty to pass up (but it comes in many other colors!). And although the jacket feels heavy when you pick it up, it’s not actually heavy once you’re wearing it, but you can tell it will keep you nice and warm in colder temps. And then these beaded fringe earrings seem like they were selected precisely to be paired with this moto jacket. I love the playful statement they make! I’ve wanted a pair of fringe earrings for so long, so I know you will be seeing these on repeat for quite a while!

Hope you all had a lovely and blessed holiday no matter where you were or who you were with. I have a few more Christmas gifts I can’t wait to style and share with you next week. For now, scroll down to see more of how I styled this suede jacket and fringe earrings!

Hey ya’ll! I’m so excited you’ve stopped by to check out my holiday home decor! When the Christmas season rolls around, bringing out the decor is easily the thing I anticipate most. From putting up the tree to lighting the first pine-scented candle, I just love the spirit that is brought into my home and my community when the holiday trimmings go up. I’ve been living in my own place for about 5 or 6 years now and I feel I’ve finally reached a point where I have an ample amount of Christmas decor accumulated to fill my current dwelling. Of course I am always on the hunt for more/new holiday items, but it’s a nice feeling to bring out a box of Christmas decor and almost have too many options to choose from. This year for the first time I decided to bring in a lot of fresh components. We have a fake Christmas tree, so being able to still get that fresh, piney smell from fresh garland and wreaths was really appealing to me. We also have a wood burning fireplace that just begged for natural, rustic surroundings (which, don’t worry, we are SUPER careful with the garland when we have a fire lit. I have been keeping it moist with a water spritzer bottle nearby, and we have a fire extinguisher within arms reach in case God forbid the worst happens!)

There was also something so special about decorating my first home with the fiance. Although we’ve been together for 5 years, this is the first time we’ve lived together. And being engaged for 1 year now, I had some serious nesting instincts kick in and a sense of wifely duty to make our home a warm, inviting holiday paradise. I think I achieved exactly what I was going for and the fiance has made several comments about how much he loves coming home to our little Christmas wonderland. #winning

I hope you enjoy the tour of our home!

Our tree would simply not be complete without this adorable beer ornament from Crate & Barrel.

It’s so easy to bring Christmas to the table by simply swapping out our table runner to this beautifully red damask patterned one from World Market.

Our little chalkboard above the bar cart with a seasonal-appropriate message/doodle.

Styled the bar cart with my favorite coupe glasses, gold cocktail shaker, and a fresh holly branch in a jar.

Swapped our usual navy pillows for these red striped pillows, snowflake pillow, and “Merry and Bright” pillow.

My little penguin figurine is easily one of my favorite decor items to put out. This little guy just brings a smile to my face.

That’s it! Thanks for stopping by to check out our humble holiday home and I hope I’ve given you some great ideas to go deck out your own home for the holidays.

I’m back at it with another gift guide for y’all! This one is loaded with stocking stuffer gift ideas for anyone and everyone you may need. Whether it be Mom or Dad, sister or brother, or significant other…I’ve got you covered. Stocking stuffers are always the things I put off to the very last minute and nearly forget about by the time Christmas Eve rolls around. Then suddenly I find myself scrambling to Target and pillaging the $1 section at the front of the store to see if there is anything at all besides candy that I can use to fill up my loved ones’ stockings. Real heartfelt, right? I’m sure many of you can relate to this scenario and I do not judge you whatsoever! We spend so much time focusing on finding the perfect gifts for under the tree, that little stocking stuffers fall by the wayside. Well I’m here to save the day and give you ideas well before Christmas Eve, and hopefully even give you some ammo to save up for next year’s stockings! These are all smaller-sized gifts in a variety of price points that will fit perfectly amongst candies and other goodies in a stocking. Happy shopping!

Under $200 Tech Gift Guide

I cannot believe Thanksgiving and Black Friday are already upon us! How did that happen so quickly? Normally, I am one to stayed holed up at home the day after Thanksgiving, far, far away from Black Friday craziness. But this year I’ve come across some great tech items that are going on Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale and most of it can be purchased online from the comfort (and safety) of your home. And not only are they all going on sale, but they will all be less than $200, which is a huge value as far as tech items go! So whether it’s Dad or your brother or even your 21st century grandma (mine totally rocks an iPad!), there is something for everyone on your Christmas list here without blowing your gifting budget.

1. Amazon Echo – Also known as “Alexa,” this has become a lifeline in our household! You can have Alexa do anything from reporting the weather, playing Pandora and keeping a shopping list, to ordering pizza delivery, calling an Uber and more. Normally $180, starting on Thanksgiving thru Black Friday, it will be marked down to $140 on Amazon.

2. Amazon Echo Dot – The smaller version of Alexa. Maybe you have a smaller space and don’t need the full size Echo, or maybe you want to use it as an extension of your Echo in your bedroom that’s on the other side of the house. This has all the same functionality of the full Echo in a smaller footprint. Normally $50 (already a steal!), it will be $10 off on Amazon from Thanksgiving thru Black Friday.

3. Phonesoap – As seen on Shark Tank, Phonesoap uses UV technology to sanitize your phone (or anything else you can fit in there) and has a universal charger to juice up your device while it’s being cleaned! It’s compatible with all phones, even the biggest iPhone 7+. They are offering 20% off NOW thru Cyber Monday with code “holiday20.”

4. Apple Watch Series 1 – If you or anyone on your list has been wanting a smart watch, now’s the time to jump! Apple products very rarely go on sale, but for this Black Friday, Target is discounting the 38mm Series 1 watches from $269 down to $198! Apple is also teasing their Black Friday event, but not giving any details on the discounts yet. Note: the Series 1 isn’t waterproof like it’s newer counterpart.

5. Beats Solo 2 Wireless Headphones – I was never on the Beats over-ear headphones bandwagon until my fiance bought a new MacBook Air that came with free Beats Solo 2 Wireless headphones as part of the back-to-school promotion. I gotta say, not only is the sound quality impeccable, but they are also so comfy and provide excellent noise cancelling. A definite must have to stay sane on long flights and to cancel out that chatterbox on the treadmill next to you at the gym. They are currently $100 off, but on Black Friday they will be further reduced to $120 at Target (a $180 savings!).

6. Fitbit Alta – Maybe your mom isn’t interested in a full blown smart watch, but would like some sort of step tracker that’s a bit daintier. Enter Fitbit Alta. Sleek and thin with a small electronic display and available in multiple colors! Both Best Buy and Target will have these for $30 off on Black Friday, bringing the total to just $100. There will also be deals on the Fitbit Charge 2, Charge HR, and Flex models.

7. Apple TV – This is easily my favorite piece of tech in our house. I can airplay anything from my laptop or phone onto our TV, rent/buy movies, and catch up on Netflix, Hulu and any network TV I might have missed. On Black Friday, Target will be offering all Apple TV models at 25% offApple is also teasing their Black Friday event, but not giving any details on the discounts yet.

It’s officially Fall and only days away from October, which means Fall and Halloween decor are finally fair game! Every year since I started college, my mom has sent me festive decor items for each holiday so that I could slowly build up an inventory for when I moved into my own place and, eventually, started a family. I didn’t realize how thankful I was for this until the time actually came to move into my own apartment. It was early October and suddenly Halloween rolled around and thanks to my mom I actually had plenty of fun things to put out around the house!

Now that I’ve been on my own for 7 years, I’ve continued to add to what she started for me and it’s interesting to see how my holiday style is slowly evolving. A few years ago, Fall and Halloween decor to me meant leaves and pumpkins and warm colors. While most of that still holds true (those are essential to transition into Thanksgiving!), I’ve really gotten into the more creepy aspect of Halloween decor – skulls and ravens and shades of black (you can see my decor from last year here). My latest (and favorite) additions this year are a black branch wreath, wooden carved raven, and black Dia De Los Muertos decanter. I can only imagine that I’ll find more “dark” items to add to my collection before Halloween rolls around.

I’m a few days late in saying this, but Happy New Year! Looking back on 2015, I must say it was one for the books. I started this blog, landed a dream job, bought my first car, ran my first 10k, and the cherry on top of the year was when the man I love asked me to be his wife.

What a whirlwind! 2016 promises even greater things without a doubt. So with the intention of making the most out of this year and the exciting times ahead, I wanted to lay out my goals for 2016 (that means y’all can hold me accountable!).

  1. Get healthier. Such a cliche right? I am proud of the progress I made in terms of diet and fitness last year, but of course the holidays set me back. With a wedding in my future, there’s no time like the present to be more aware about how I am nourishing and exercising my body, and how much I spend on groceries and eating out.
  2. Build up the blog. Last year when I created this blog, I set a weekly posting goal for myself. This year, I hope to amp up the content and document my wedding planning journey to connect with other brides-to-be out there.
  3. Save money. Again, with a wedding in the future and plans to buy a house, it’s more important than ever that I am smart with my finances. I admit it, I have a bad shopping habit. I need to spend less on things I don’t need and put more money away to save for what’s important.
  4. Improve myself overall. I don’t want to say “become a better person” because I’m not a bad person, but I think there’s always room for self-improvement. I could be more patient, more selfless and more zen. Last year my doctor asked me to take 10 minutes to meditate everyday and I failed miserably on that request. I’d like to make it a point to make quiet time for myself every evening to breathe deep and release any stresses from that day.

What are your goals for 2016?

This Tuesday Brewsday is all about gifting for that craft beer nut in your family. One of the most unique gifts I received last Christmas was a subscription to the Microbrewed Beer of the Month Club from my aunt & uncle. It was so thoughtful and absolutely perfect for a hop head like me! Every quarter (4 times a year) I received a shipment of 12 beers in 4 varieties from 2 different microbreweries. It was like Christmas morning all over again each time a new shipment arrived! The package also came with a pamphlet that included information on the breweries and tasting notes for each of the beers. The beer nerd in me rejoiced.

There are all kinds of companies who offer this craft brew subscription service and, if you know your beer lover really well, you can even select a more specific subscription like the international beer club, or the rare beer club.

The best part? No going into a store and no giant box to wrap! You can purchase it online today, print the membership certificate, and wrap it up in a lovely envelope. In the words of the great Ina Garten, “How easy is that?”

Share the beer love this holiday season. Cheers!
