Yesterday was the first official day of Spring. Every year as the cooler temps melt away and the earth comes back to life, I can’t help but reflect on some of my favorite photographs I’ve taken over the years as Spring is making its grand reappearance. Thought I’d share a few with you today. Happy Monday!

UNEARTHED

For those of us who still love to shoot film, I can guarantee rolls on rolls can be found hiding around our home & office, waiting to be developed. It’s like Christmas morning when I unearth one of these long lost friends and impatiently wait to get the scans back so I can remember what the heck was on that roll. Then, upon their return, commences a heated review & nostalgia session. It’s truly magical.

I had been hoarding a couple rolls of film over the past few months as my events bled from one roll to the next and I was determine to finish out the final roll before taking them all to the lab. I’m a one-trip kind of gal. So on this Throwback Thursday I thought it appropriate to share a smattering of images from my latest scans.

THE VINTAGE MARKET: A LOVE AFFAIR

Every 4th Sunday of the month our town has a vintage market that sets up shop for the afternoon. Here’s the thing with vintage markets. I love them so much and I can’t explain it. I never have an agenda or shopping list when I go to the market, but I end up wanting anything and everything. I find myself falling in love with taxidermy, pondering what I could do with a set of rusty vintage lockers, or where I could hang a kitschy, upcycled chandelier. It’s a compulsion that requires me to always have someone of sound mind in tow to intervene.

Regardless of my uncontrollable urges, the vintage market always makes for great photography subjects. They say one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, and I thoroughly enjoy documenting the myriad of “treasures” up for grabs.

I mean how “Fixer Upper” are those block letters? I need them right? Exhibit A – I have issues. I blame HGTV.

We are heading to the market again this Sunday and who knows what I’ll find!

IN A SPRING STATE OF MIND

It’s March and it’s already time to “spring forward” on Sunday. How did that happen already? HOW.

As quickly as this year is passing, I can’t honestly say I’m sad to lose an hour to daylight savings time this weekend. I love the long light of spring & summer days. I certainly won’t miss driving home from work in darkness. Sipping rosé on my balcony, watching the sunset at 8pm in warm weather = my happy place.

Click through the gallery above for some of my photographs (shot mostly on film) that remind me of spring. Ah, spring. How I love thee.
